Reaper XIII Ch 2

I kept my promise and brought the dragon food every day. I made sure not to go down there on the days Naoribi did, in order to keep our secret. I smiled to the door, the large turkey dinner in my bag. I checked the Seventh Circle for anybody that might see me. The Seventh was empty, the ballroom and the throne room were both void of life. They rarely used the Seventh except for special occasions or when the Boss felt frisky enough to leave his office. He had so much paperwork, it would be another millennia before he would use this room again.

I ran to the door and zapped it open. I carefully went into the staircase and followed it down. Since seeing the dragon, I was starting to be able to see in the dim light, though I preferred my umbrella light. I reached the bottom of the stairs, but did not see the dragon. “The Hell?” I noticed light coming from the other side of the pile. I never saw this before, since the dragon was so large. I ran to the light and found a small house hidden in the gold.

I looked inside and saw a male with broad shoulders and long black hair. He was covered from the waist down, but that left his muscular back and arms exposed. I stood there, staring, not sure what to do. I tried to take a step and tripped on something. The noise caused the male to turn around and I saw his yellow eyes. “Dra… gon…?” I asked carefully as I bent down to get the golden vase off my boot.

He looked sad and at a loss of what to do. “Draco.”

“Draco?” I stood back up to really get a look at him. His chest was just as muscular as his back and was accessorized with a six pack of abs most men dreamed of. His face was strong featured, from his chin to his high cheek bones to the bones that made up his brow and forehead.

I closed my eyes and shook my head, to stop from staring at him. I set my umbrella on the ground, leaning against a wall of the house. I took off my bag and pulled out the pot with the turkey in it. I held it out with both arms, “I didn’t realize you had a human form, so I never realized that this would be too big for you.”

He grabbed the pot from me, both of us awkwardly trying not to stare. Today, I was not wearing my normal clothes, instead I was wearing a black dress that fit my curves, for the blind date Cat set me up on. He set the pot on the counter and lifted the lid. The smell wafted through the kitchen area. “It looks delicious.” He said absently.

“I’m sorry for disturbing your private time.” I turned to leave, grabbing my umbrella and putting the bag back on.

“You’re-” He grabbed my hand. “You’re not. I’ve just never been caught in my human form before. You’re here early.” He pointed to the clock I found for him. “You’re two hours early.”

“Cat is setting me up on a blind date tonight, so I had to come early.” I looked at the ground, feeling like a kid who had been caught with my hand in the cookie jar.

“Blind date? So, you’re date is blind?” He asked as he let go of my wrist.

I snickered, “No, it means I don’t know who it is. She’s shown me a picture of him and he looks hot, but I really know nothing about him. I think he’s seen a picture of me and Cat set up the date place and time. It’s in the human world at this fancy restaurant.” I glared at my dress, “Hence why I’m wearing this… thing.”

He took a step closer to me, “You’re taller than normal.” He touched my face, “Markings are gone too.”

I lifted up my left foot, showing off the stiletto heels Cat forced me into. “It’s these neck breakers. They make me taller. I don’t know why I need to be taller, I’m already tall enough. Tattoos have to be covered when entering the human realm.” I noticed that I stood up to his nose, meaning without them, I would be at Draco’s shoulder. I looked up at him, taking a step back. “How often are you in human form?”

He shrugged and rubbed the back of his neck with his huge hand. “Before meeting you, I never had the energy to turn into this form. Since you’ve been bringing me food, I am able to whenever I like. I like my dragon form, but I can do more in this one.”

I felt my face light up, “Like what? What do you do for hobbies or fun?”

He looked away, kind of embarrassed. “I like to make things. It’s a disgraceful thing as a dragon to want to create. I’m supposed to destroy… It’s why they would only feed me once every forty-five days. It kept me hungry and dangerous.”

I grinned, “I don’t think it’s disgraceful, as long as you like to do it. Is there anything you need to help you along?”

He shrugged again, “I don’t know. I’ve been using the cowhide from the cow they feed me. I figured out how to use my flames to make it into leather, so I’ve been doing that. But…” He trailed off.

“But…?” I prompted.

“I want to make something beautiful. I see the gold all around this Circle and the jewels and jewelry… I want to make something just as beautiful.” He looked away, his face flaming red.

“I-” My beeper went off. I looked at the message from Cat, ‘You’re going to be late!’ I sighed, “I have to go.” I looked into his yellow eyes, “If I find anything to help, I’ll get it for you.” I turned and walked away.

“Thank you…” I thought I heard him say as I reached the stairs, but I was not sure.
