I flopped onto the couch and sighed, “The Erick thing is really bothering her. I wonder why. Cat’s dating a human, so how is that not worse than what I did?”
I heard a knock at the door and bolted to the door. I looked and saw Erick through the peephole. It was Cat’s idea for this. Our homes in the First Circle are also connected to a door in the human realm. This allowed for human visitors to visit or if an angel wanted to as well. I opened the door and Erick burst into the living room area. “Sori!” He saw me and hugged me tightly. “You will not believe what happened to me today! I was almost hit by an elderly couple this morning and I thought I saw you!” He looked at me closely, his honey voice commanding, “Tell me the truth. Was it you I saw this morning?”
I could not stop myself, even though I tried, “Yes.”
He held me tighter. “I knew it. Why did you?”
“Save you or take their souls?” I could not stop myself from talking. I could not lie to him.
“I took their souls because it is my job. I am a Reaper and it was their time to go. You were supposed to be hurt serious enough that I could have taken your soul as well.”
“Why did you save me?” He looked straight into my eyes. The piercing blue held me within their depths. “Why?”
“Because I love you.” I spoke without thinking.
I watched a knowing smile cross his lips, “I know you do.”
“Of course I knew. It was love at first sight, was it not?”
His words sank into me like warm taffy, “Yes, love at first sight.”
He saw the tattered umbrella near the door, “I thought I told you to get rid of that.”
I looked at the umbrella then back to him, “I know you did, but it’s needed for work.”
“What does it do?” He asked.
I wanted to tell him, I really did, but something else came out of my mouth. “It’s light.” I walked over to it and turned the pencil light on before opening it to the full light. “I need it when I go through Hell.”
“Hell?” He pulled me close to him and I melted into him.
“I work in Hell with Cat.”
“Cat works there too?” He asked sweetly.
“Yeah, she’s a Demon who organizes the Circles. She’s currently trying to figure out a system for everything that gets left there.”
“What do you mean?” He pulled me to my couch and held my tightly against his warm hard body.
“When things get lost. They end up in the Third Circle for some reason. She’s trying to figure out what to do with the accumulated stuff.”
“Ah.” He looked directly at me and I felt myself fall for him even more for accepting everything. “Kiss me.” He commanded me.
I leaned in and kissed his lips, as his tongue dove into my mouth, He was making me feel warm, despite there not being any alcohol in my system. He pulled away and I saw his lips move, but there was no sound coming out. “I can’t hear you.”
He just smiled then kissed me again. When he pulled away, “Don’t worry about it.” He pushed me down on the couch and kissed me from my lips, to my cheek then to my neck. My body felt like it was on fire and fire made me think of Draco. Again, he crossed my mind, before it was forcibly pushed away by the wave of darkness. I heard myself sat, “I love you, Erick.”
I barely heard his answer, “You better love me.”
